Last month the man I refer to as “my online guru” sent me a Dear Jonni letter. Among other things, Michael Hyatt wanted me to know “I am no longer offering The Get Noticed! Theme for WordPress for sale.” This is the theme I use for this website, online but yet to be launched. It’s the theme I chose because I had confidence in Michael and his team. I expected them to be there for the long haul.

A few hours later, after my heart rate settled down and my brain started working again, I fired off some questions to the theme’s support team and started to check out alternatives. I made the decision to limit further uploads to this website until I had enough information to decide on next steps. When I heard back from the Get Noticed! team, it was clear that I would have to find a new theme.

Thus, it looks like sayonara, Michael Hyatt. So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu! Before I go, though, a few heart-felt thank-yous for making Anselm’s Quest possible. This project wasn’t only about a message, it was about being the person who could deliver it in the first place.

You taught me to be grateful

I confess that after nearly a decade of reading the Rule of Benedict, I never internalized the part about not grumbling. Generally I kept that side of me out of public view, but in my head I was a class A whiner. That was until the day your blog post on gratitude arrived in my inbox. Since then, my internal whine levels have diminished from a loud roar to a gentle hum. One day I hope to wake up and discover they have vanished altogether.

You taught me to be positive.

Self-limiting thoughts, I think you called them, were a drag on the creative life. I could think of a hundred reasons why I should not start a blog. You kept telling me my message was needed and I should get it out there. Eventually I believed it enough to take the first steps into the online world. True, the site has yet to be launched, but I’m confident it will get there.

You helped me find my why

Even though I didn’t realize I needed one, you said I did, and showed me how to find it.

You gave me the tools to make it happen.

Even Dummies books weren’t simple enough for me. From practical advice to freebie downloads and Platform University, you showed me how to make a website happen. Get Noticed! was part of that, and I’m sorry to see it go, but that’s life. I’m sure the new theme, whatever it is, will be just fine once I get used to it.

It isn’t even good-bye, not really. Platform University is still rolling along. There’s a whole folder of archived resources on my laptop, thanks to you. MichaelHyatt.com is growing, and I understand that sometimes older projects no longer fit with the new vision. All the best to you and your team, and thanks for being there when I needed you.
